Kotak Healthcare Fund is a sectoral fund that requires careful consideration before investment. Here are key factors to evaluate:
Suitable for:
- Investors with high risk tolerance who understand sector concentration risks
- Those with a long-term investment horizon (minimum 7 years recommended)
- Investors bullish on India's healthcare sector growth prospects
- Those looking for sector-specific exposure in their portfolio
Key Considerations:
- This is a fund that invests mainly in shares of pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. We believe that investors should avoid funds that have a narrowly defined investment mandate such as this one. Instead, they should invest in flexi-cap funds which provide complete freedom to the fund management team to invest in companies from which it expects maximum gains.
- Warning: Do not invest in this, or any other pharma sector fund, if you need to redeem your investment in less than seven years.
- But if you do invest, you must do so only through the SIP route.
Recent Performance:
- Kotak Healthcare Fund fund has generated a return of 16.86% in 1 year
- Kotak Healthcare Fund Direct - Growth scheme return performance in last 1 year is 16.76%, is 40.92% since scheme launch.
Given its sectoral focus and recent launch, investors should allocate only a small portion of their portfolio (5-10%) to this fund and maintain a long-term perspective.
