Aspinwall & Company Limited stands as one of the earliest commercial enterprises on the Malabar Coast of South India, established in 1867 by the legendary English trader and visionary John H. Aspinwall. Incorporated in 1920, the company operates in diversified business activities including coffee processing and trading, logistics services, rubber plantations, and natural fiber products manufacturing.

John H. Aspinwall acquired the business of Scott Brothers in 1867, launching Aspinwall & Company with a range of shipping services, besides carrying on business in timber, spices, and several other agro products. In 1956, the company became a Public Limited Company when the Erstwhile Royal Family of Travancore acquired a small interest. By the early 1970s, when the English owners decided to disinvest, a major portion of the company's shareholding was taken over by the Erstwhile Royal Family, who hold the controlling interest till date.

Business Segments and Operations

The company operates through four primary business segments that showcase its diversified operational portfolio: Logistics, Coffee, Plantation, and Others.

- Logistics: Offers liner services, customs house agents, freight forwarding, air cargo, ship agency, stevedoring, bulk cargo, warehousing, as well as project and over-dimensional cargo handling. The Logistics Division has a wide network of offices covering major ports, ICDs, and airports. It is an IATA accredited cargo agency with operations at all major airports in the country and provides documentation services to importers and exporters at all customs stations. It also provides agency services to owners and charterers of bulk and liquid cargo, containers, cruise ships, and offshore vessels.

- Coffee: Encompasses the entire coffee supply chain, including input supplies to plantations, processing, trading, and export. The company's coffee division is involved in the plantations, processing, trading, and export of coffee.

- Plantation: Owns and manages approximately 2,200 acres of rubber plantations. It also produces centrifuged latex and technically specified natural rubber.

- Natural Fiber Products: Produces entrance and corridor mats, carpets, mattings, rugs, runners, and mesh mattings. It also manufactures PVC and rubber-backed natural fiber products, and jute floor coverings and furnishings. Additionally, it supplies natural fiber geotextiles (used in environment engineering to prevent soil erosion) and coir pith (used in horticulture).
