Product Portfolio and Manufacturing Excellence

The company manufactures UF & PF Resins, Resorcinol Formaldehyde, Glass Reinforced Plastics, Prefurnished Boards, DAP resin and Monomer, UV Top Coat, and Base Coat. The company's products include Plywood, Hard Boards, Densified Wood, Wipress, Furniture, Wooden Flooring, and Others. The Hardboard Plant, with an installed capacity of 12.5 tonnes, was set up in 1959-60 with West German technical collaboration. This division now has a total installed capacity of 34,750 MTPA and is a market leader in Hardboards.

The company has achieved several industry firsts over its seven-decade journey. It was the first to make Irradiated Wood, Aircraft Plywood, Fire Retardant Plywood conforming to BS:476 specification, and high-pressure industrial laminates. It also developed Weatherproof, Marine, and Fire Retardant Hardboards, Metal Faced Plywoods, and Pre-finished Plywoods and Hardboards using UV-cured surface finishing technology. Furthermore, it was the first in the country to manufacture DAP Resin with indigenously developed know-how. In 1978, WIP set up a plant for manufacturing Di-allyl Phthalate (DAP) Moulding powder, a thermoset that had to be imported until then, with technology developed in-house with support from Shree Ram Institute of Industrial Research, Delhi.

The Company caters to both domestic and international markets and has depots and dealer networks across India. Its primary customers include the automobile, packaging, and construction industries. Presently, the Company is manufacturing low-density fibreboard by using waste sludge from currency paper mills as part of its raw materials. The low-density fibreboard introduced has both domestic and international market appeal.

The Company's subsidiaries include Southern Veneers & Woods Works Ltd., The Kohinoor Sawmills Co Ltd, Mayabandar Doors Ltd, and ERA & WIP Timber JV SDN BHD. The joint venture company established in Malaysia for manufacturing veneers is meeting a major requirement of raw materials for the Company.
