Krishna Medical Institution Ltd (KIMS) was incorporated in the year 1973 and is one of the largest corporate healthcare groups in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in terms of patients treated and treatments offered. Initially established as Jagjit Singh and Sons Private Limited in 1973 in Mumbai, the company's name was changed to Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Private Limited in 2004. Upon its conversion to a Public Limited Company, the name was changed to Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Limited on January 29, 2004.

The company offers multidisciplinary healthcare services with primary, secondary, and tertiary care across 2-3 tier cities and an additional quaternary healthcare facility in tier-1 cities. KIMS Hospitals is one of the largest corporate healthcare groups in Telangana and AP, providing multi-disciplinary integrated healthcare services, with a focus on tertiary and quaternary healthcare at affordable cost. The Group offers healthcare services in specialties and super specialties across more than 40 fields.

The company operates 12 multi-specialty hospitals under the "KIMS Hospitals" brand, with an aggregate capacity of over 4,000 beds. KIMS manages 12 multispecialty hospitals, providing a wide array of healthcare services across more than 40 specialities and super specialities. These include cardiac sciences, oncology, neurosciences, gastric sciences, orthopaedics, organ transplantation, renal sciences and childcare.

Geographic Presence and Expansion

Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, or KIMS, is a corporate healthcare group, with hospitals in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. It provides multi-disciplinary integrated healthcare services with a focus on tertiary and quaternary healthcare. KIMS began its journey in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, establishing its oldest hospital with a capacity of about 200 beds. Over the years, the group ventured into various cities in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, apart from Telangana.

The company has been pursuing an aggressive expansion strategy in recent years. In 2021, KIMS acquired a stake in Hyderabad-based Sunshine Hospitals. The following year, in 2022, it expanded its footprint by signing an MoU with Dr Raj Nagarkar, a surgical oncologist in western Maharashtra, to establish KIMS Manavata Hospital, a multi-specialty facility in Nashik with a total bed capacity of 325. KIMS also acquired a majority stake in Kingsway Hospitals in Nagpur in 2022.

The company is all set to enter Karnataka in the ensuing year with a 250-bed hospital in the heart of Bengaluru. There are immediate plans to expand its wings to Thane, Mumbai in the next year. All these initiatives will lead to a doubling of its capacity to 8,000 beds in the next 2-3 years spanning across the states of Telangana, AP, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
