Rossell India Limited was incorporated in 1994 by Mr. H.M. Gupta as Rossell Tea Ltd. Founded in 1994 as Rossell Tea Limited, the company's journey began with a singular focus on producing exceptional teas. To reflect its evolution, the company rebranded as Rossell India Limited on April 19, 2011, representing its broader business ventures.
In 2024, Rossell India Limited embarked on a new chapter by returning to its roots, focusing exclusively on tea production. With the Aerospace & Defence business transitioning to an independent entity, Rossell Techsys Limited, Rossell India Limited is now dedicated to nurturing its legacy in the tea industry. This strategic restructuring has allowed the company to concentrate its resources on its core tea operations while maintaining its legacy in both sectors through separate entities.
Following the recent corporate restructuring, Rossell India Limited now operates primarily in the tea segment. The Tea business includes the cultivation, manufacture, and selling of Bulk Tea, known as 'Rossell Tea'. RIL owns Tea Estates in Assam and currently operates seven tea gardens across Assam. It remains a profitable exporter and supplier of high-quality teas.
This commitment to growth and excellence continues with the acquisition of Dhoedaam Tea Estate in January 2025. Situated in Assam's prime tea-growing belt, Dhoedaam is now the largest of our estates, producing 1.8 million kilograms of tea annually, further strengthening our position as a producer of high-quality teas.
Until 2024, Rossell India operated dual business segments. It added Aviation and Defence manufacturing and service capabilities for its growth. Over the years, it diversified into Aviation and Defence manufacturing and services. In October 2008, RIL established a new division, Vankesh Avionics Technologies, to design, develop, and manufacture various types of test rigs, aircraft looming, and PCB assembly, etc., which in May 2011 was renamed 'Rossell Techsys'.
The contribution of this division to overall revenue increased from 11.9% in 2011 to over 50% in 2022. Meanwhile, the Techsys division added a few marquee clients, and RIL also realigned its other businesses and investments in the last decade. The aerospace division had established significant partnerships with global OEMs, including Boeing, where Rossell TechSys is on a high-growth path with its customer portfolio now featuring names like Lockheed Martin, Expleo, InterConnect Wiring, Bharat Electronics Ltd, and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. However, Boeing remains the primary destination for Rossell Techsys' wire harnesses and electrical cockpit panels.
